Requirements

Candidates must possess at least 10 years of experience in developing and integrating sensing technologies, particularly in wearable devices, medical devices, or related industries. They should demonstrate a deep understanding of sensor principles, including optical, inertial, and physiological sensors, along with experience in sensor signal processing and algorithm development. Strong knowledge of sensor calibration and validation techniques is also required.

Responsibilities

The Director, Sensing Technologies will build and lead a team of hardware, optics, and sensing engineers to develop new capabilities and technologies for Oura's wearable devices, defining and driving the long-term sensing technology roadmap. They will research, evaluate, and select new sensor technologies, including PPG, accelerometers, gyroscopes, temperature sensors, and emerging modalities, while leading the integration of sensors into devices and optimizing sensor performance. Responsibilities also include developing signal processing and machine learning algorithms for sensor data analysis, managing relationships with sensor vendors, collaborating with cross-functional teams, optimizing the overall sensing system, overseeing sensor testing and validation, and staying current with advancements in sensing technologies.
