Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
  • 6+ years of HR/People experience, 3+ years of HRBP related experience
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management and federal and state respective employment laws
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices and the administrative practices related to those factors
  • Strong verbal [communication skills, inferred from context]

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the routine functions of the People (HR) department, including administering pay, benefits, leave and enforcing company policies and practices
  • Facilitate and execute employee onboarding, i9 verifications & offboarding
  • Consult with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate
  • Manage one People Ops Specialist
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal counsel as needed/required
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Plan, lead, direct, develop and coordinate the policies, activities and staff of the People (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy
  • Lead and ensure operationalization of company policies and programs (systems and processes)
  • Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources, talent management and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice and resources to upper management
