Requirements

  • Strong experience in platform infrastructure development with Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform/OpenTofu IAC, Postgres, CDC systems and Docker
  • Passion for enabling self-service platform monitoring using Datadog, Grafana and Prometheus
  • Expertise with SQL and Python as core data languages
  • Solid experience with Django and WSGI (highly desirable)
  • Experience with other data products beneficial: Airflow, Spark, dbt, Jupyter
  • Skilled at shaping needs into a solid set of requirements and designing scalable solutions to meet them
  • Team player excited at the idea of ownership across lots of different projects and tools
  • Passion for driving towards Net Zero
  • Drives knowledge sharing and documentation for a more effective platform
  • Open to travelling to Octopus offices across Europe and the US
  • Experience with trading systems, data flows, and teams across EU electricity and gas markets (especially exciting)

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and developing our data platform infrastructure, helping team members to debug and resolve live issues while growing a self-service suite of monitoring tools
  • Driving long-term robustness and scalability of trading processes supporting global growth
  • Setting up and maintaining processes for capturing, preparing and loading valuable new data into the data lake
  • Helping trading, forecasting, risk and PPA teams to optimise key operational pipelines while taking responsibility for process maintenance
  • Developing automations and alerts to quickly debug where these pipelines are failing or showing unprecedented trends
  • Working with international teams across the Octopus Energy Group to ensure everyone shares the best possible practises and code is standardised where possible
