Candidates must have prior experience working in the genealogy industry, such as ancestry research, family history services, or historical records platforms, with 1-2 years of experience using Python in a production environment. They should have hands-on experience or familiarity with Airflow (DAGs, operators, scheduling), experience working with Docker (or other OCI-compatible container framework), proficiency in Git and standard version control workflows, and experience building and consuming RESTful APIs. Strong communication skills and an analytical mindset are also required.
As a Data Engineer, you will join an established and collaborative data team as an individual contributor, helping to build and maintain scalable, reusable pipelines to process large genealogy data sets. You will analyze source data, collaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements, and propose improvements. Additionally, you will design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs to expose data and services, write production-ready code following good engineering practices, troubleshoot issues, and provide support to internal teams. Finally, you will contribute to the design and continuous improvement of tools, workflows, and infrastructure, working with a variety of technologies and cloud services.
