Requirements

Candidates should have 4+ years of experience as a data engineer, analytics engineer, data analyst, or similar role focused on data architecture and warehouse development. Proven expertise in SQL, Python, and cloud platform technologies, specifically GCP, is required. A deep understanding of data warehousing, modeling, and real-time analytics for experimentation and product intelligence is necessary. Proficiency in modern data tooling such as BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Pub/Sub, and version control systems like Git is essential. Knowledge of robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, streaming data solutions, and data visualization/BI tools like Looker or Tableau is expected. Familiarity with data privacy, governance, and security best practices, including compliance frameworks like GDPR and FERPA, is also required. Strong communication skills to translate complex data concepts for diverse stakeholders and demonstrated success working cross-functionally are crucial.

Responsibilities

The Data Engineer will work with stakeholders to map business definitions to logical definitions for modeling in DBT. They will instrument data solutions from multiple sources to enable fast, data-driven decision-making on usability, learning, product engagement, and quality. This role involves building the infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data using GCP technologies, as well as creating real-time, scalable data solutions to support A/B product testing and data/learning science through visualizations. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining data pipeline architecture, configuration, and implementation. The Data Engineer will also assist internal teams with data-related technical issues, support their data infrastructure, access, and visualization needs, and support cross-functional teams with data strategies and guidance documentation. Adherence to data privacy and security guidelines, building data expertise, owning data quality for allocated areas, and creating efficient processes for data acquisition, extraction, integration, transformation, and modeling are key duties. Additionally, the role involves contributing to data documentation and mentoring teammates on best practices and data strategy.
