About the Role

As a Corporate Security Professional based in our San Francisco office, you will be instrumental in leading day-to-day security operations and supporting broader physical security strategies across the region. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to maintain and adapt OpenAI’s security posture in a rapidly evolving landscape.

This position requires hands-on experience in corporate security operations and typically involves four to five days in the office each week.

Responsibilities

Office Security

• Develop, implement, and manage physical security measures, including policies, systems, and vendor relationships, to protect employees and visitors in the San Francisco office.

VIP Visit & Executive Protection Coordination

• Plan, lead, and execute executive protection coordination for VIPs, ensuring their safety during visits or events on campus.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (workplace, executive business partners, Legal, HR) to manage complex security logistics.
• Work closely with internal and external security providers and law enforcement to ensure comprehensive protection coverage.

Government and Delegation Coordination

• Lead coordination efforts with government officials and high-level delegations, ensuring secure access and compliance with relevant protocols.

Event Security Management

• Develop, implement, and manage security plans for small to large-scale events, ensuring safety for all attendees and staff.
• Coordinate with event organizers, workplace teams, and vendors to execute comprehensive security protocols.
• Provide exceptional service to VIPs, guests, and delegations, ensuring a positive visitor experience.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

• Establish and strengthen relationships with local law enforcement agencies, peer security organizations, and other external partners to stay current on emerging risks.

Policy Development & Compliance

• Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training programs, and compliance initiatives, ensuring all protocols meet high-quality standards and legal requirements.

Qualifications

Professional Experience

• 3+ years in corporate security and/or a BA/BS degree, or equivalent law enforcement/military experience.

Physical Security

• Operations skills relevant to the safeguarding of a large office.

Technical Experience

• Experience implementing and optimizing advanced security technologies, including visitor management and access control systems.

Vendor Management

• A successful track record of coordinating with third-party security vendors.

Relationship Building

• Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with internal teams and external agencies, forging strong, collaborative relationships.

Operational Leadership

• Proven skill in creating, revising, and executing SOPs to ensure consistent and efficient security practices, alongside developing training programs for both security personnel and broader teams.

Adaptability & Resilience

• Comfort working in a dynamic environment, with the ability to swiftly pivot in response to emerging threats or organizational changes.

Travel

• Ability and willingness to travel to regional offices and support various events a few times a year or as needed globally.
