Requirements

  • 7+ years of legal experience
  • Expertise in Japanese personal information and privacy laws, guidelines, and related legal frameworks (including legal review, compliance, and incident response)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word for document creation, and basic operation skills for office applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Experience in the gaming, electronics, IT, or online services industry (preferred)
  • Experience with developing products and services for international markets (preferred)
  • Japanese or other country lawyer qualification (a plus)
  • Experience with overseas study or work experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal reviews and provide advice on product and service plans and specifications from a legal compliance and risk management perspective
  • Primarily support Japanese development teams, leading legal and compliance efforts from concept to market release
  • Provide clear and practical advice to stakeholders lacking legal knowledge, supporting business advancement
  • Collaborate closely with legal teams in the United States, Europe, and Asia
  • Conduct data privacy reviews and provide advice for products and services
  • Develop and operate a privacy compliance framework
  • Plan and implement global privacy initiatives as the Japan representative
  • Provide legal support for PlayStation online service safety initiatives in Japan
  • Effectively communicate the overall business picture and objectives to international stakeholders, while organizing and aligning legal risks
  • Identify and propose solutions to challenges based on fact-finding, using critical thinking and strong communication skills
  • Proactively engage stakeholders and drive initiatives independently
