Technical Control Engineer

Candidates should possess 3-5 years’ experience in an industrial setting, strong electronic and PLC skills, and a proficient knowledge of AB applications. They must be able to pass electrical skills and safety testing to become a qualified Category 2 worker, and demonstrate proficiency in applicable software, program language, and printed logic.
The Controls Technician will work safely and follow Sonoco’s safety rules and procedures, assisting the Plant Engineer with annual thermography studies and reporting, performing equipment/process/system maintenance, troubleshooting equipment, making repairs, and identifying opportunities for improvement. This role involves PM duties, project work, scheduled or breakdown maintenance, working with the Maintenance Planner on inventory management, establishing and maintaining accurate documentation, facilitating electronic and PLC training, identifying solutions, preparing scope of work and cost estimates, and actively participating in process improvement, new installations, and make-ready projects related to electronic, PLC, or mechanical systems.
