Requirements

Candidates should possess a CPA, with a public accounting background from a Big 4 firm or similar being preferred. A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience is required, including substantial ownership of revenue accounting and billing operations. Deep technical knowledge of ASC 606 and related revenue accounting standards is essential, along with hands-on experience implementing and scaling billing and revenue recognition systems like NetSuite ARM, Zuora, or Subskribe CPQ. Proven ability to design and enforce internal controls across the order-to-cash cycle, strong leadership experience managing teams and driving cross-functional initiatives, and excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are also necessary. Experience in a high-growth SaaS or technology company, including subscription models, usage-based billing, and international revenue considerations, is preferred.

Responsibilities

The Controller will lead all facets of revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606, including contract review and variable consideration assessments. They will oversee billing, invoicing, collections, and cash application processes, while managing accounting for deferred revenue, contract assets, and capitalized commissions. This role involves developing and maintaining revenue-related accounting policies and internal controls, and partnering closely with Sales, Customer Success, Deal Desk, Legal, and FP&A. Ownership of system design and automation for billing and collections, including ERP/CRM integrations, is expected, as is ensuring compliance with external audit and regulatory requirements. The Controller will deliver timely reporting on revenue, cash, and deferred revenue metrics, and identify and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across billing and revenue operations.
