Requirements

  • Experience in continuous improvement engineering, particularly in process control, cost improvement (yield and labor efficiency), product quality improvement, and cycle time reduction
  • Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma and DMAIC problem-solving methodologies
  • Ability to lead, coach, and guide peer engineers, including in training and development content creation
  • Experience investigating and proposing new procedures and methods to automate, improve, or scale-up processes
  • Capability to work cross-functionally with operators, engineering, maintenance, quality, management, R&D, and production planning
  • Knowledge of statistical process control methodologies for identifying critical process metrics, implementing control systems, and authoring standard operating procedures
  • Skills in root cause analysis using manufacturing data
  • Experience leading Yellow and Green Belt trainings and certifying Green Belts via scorecard analysis
  • Ability to comply with, support, and provide input to EH&S and quality programs, operating safely, honestly, and ethically

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to peer engineers in Lean Six Sigma and DMAIC methodologies, including proposing, creating, and improving training content for Engineering and Operations
  • Partner with Process Engineering, Operations, and Quality Engineering to identify, define, and financially vet continuous improvement and cost improvement projects
  • Routinely observe manufacturing activities and meet with operators to discuss improvement opportunities
  • Lead cross-facility and cross-functional project teams through DMAIC phases
  • Ensure sustainability of improvements by identifying critical metrics, implementing process control systems, and authoring standard operating procedures
  • Identify and remove barriers to process yield, cycle time, defect reduction, inventory reduction, waste elimination, and margin preservation/growth
  • Collect and interpret manufacturing data for root cause analysis
  • Maintain open communications with leadership, operators, and engineers on initiatives
  • Lead/collaborate on process improvement initiatives, providing coaching on Lean Six Sigma and DMAIC
  • Participate in or lead project reviews, coaching project leaders
  • Lead Yellow and Green Belt trainings and certify Green Belts
  • Support identification, prioritization, and business impact assessment of improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering and R&D on new product development process capability and control metrics
  • Work with Commercial and Product Management to determine future improvement projects
  • Provide manufacturing capability information and opportunities to Product Management for margin improvement
  • Track and communicate status of initiatives
