Content Marketing Manager

Employment Type: [Not Specified] Location Type: [Not Specified] Salary: [Not Specified]

We’d open this job description with a cool story, but ours is incomplete until you join us!

The Stories team is a small but mighty facet of our Brand team that works on all flavors of storytelling—from content marketing to editorial, social, live programming, email, and beyond. We’re blog builders, magazine makers, newsletter strategists, social media managers, video producers, and creative thinkers who work in very close partnership with Design, Copy, Growth Marketing, Product Marketing, Comms, Community, and others across Mercury.

We’re looking for a Content Marketing Manager to help further our production and distribution of top-quality, multimedia content in support of both growth and brand goals. In this role, you’ll get to see both the forest and trees, balancing strategic initiatives and program development with detail-oriented execution and distribution. You’ll bring thoughtfulness and care to everything you do while maintaining a bias toward action and strong results-orientation, leveling up the impact of both new and existing content. You’ll get to make really interesting stuff, drive forward some programs and processes, and focus hard on how content can deliver outsized business results and real, meaningful value to ambitious builders and entrepreneurial audiences.

Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust; Members FDIC.

If this sounds like you…

  • A storyteller who balances strong business acumen, creative flair, and a users-first mindset.
  • A lover of content creation in all its forms, who loves it even more when it drives measurable impact.
  • Someone who balances data and heart, digging deep into (and reporting on) the numbers while being unafraid to experiment, trust a good instinct, and explore the nuances of anecdata.
  • Super hungry to build and deliver best-in-class content at scale, moving quickly without cutting corners.

Then read on.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and grow the impact of our webinar program, strategizing a compelling, one-of-a-kind content calendar and robust distribution plan.
  • Develop content partnerships and strategies to drive awareness, distribution, and backlinks.
  • Holistically evaluate, develop, implement, and scale content-driven growth and distribution opportunities.
  • Help significantly grow our community newsletter.
  • Write, edit, and ideate on the regular across blogs, email, and more, and work with freelance collaborators and agencies to do the same.
  • Work cross-functionally with Community, SEO, Growth Marketing, Product Marketing, and more to deliver results, communicating strategies, process, and results with grace and transparency.

Requirements

You have:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, with a strong focus on multi-channel content creation, distribution and project ownership.
  • Strong familiarity with webinar development and management.
  • Your finger on the pulse of what it means to be building a business today, and where to find interesting, diverse, and dynamic expert voices and contributors.
  • Deep interest in, excitement around, and empathy for founders, whether they’re bootstrapped or VC-backed, mom-and-pop or Silicon Valley.
  • Some experience managing freelancers, contractors, or agencies, and working successfully with them to accomplish your objectives.
  • Impeccable writing and editing skills, with a penchant for bringing technical, financial, or other “formal” topics to life.
  • Comfort working in a remote-first, distributed environment, using tools like Google suite, Asana, and Slack to make async communication seamless.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience working in financial services or fintech.
  • Familiarity with the compliance rigor of working on content in a highly regulated industry.
