Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's/University or equivalent degree in Science, Economics or Business is required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 14 years of relevant working industry experience with at least 3 years of leadership experience as Business Unit Director (or comparable) including people leadership, ideally in a pharmaceutical/healthcare environment
  • Excellent business acumen, commercial experience and skills
  • Solid medical and scientific understanding
  • Robust health-economic and political knowledge
  • International experience in a commercial or strategic role

Responsibilities

  • Driving the short-, medium-, and long-term commercial success of the Business Unit portfolio, ensuring P&L accountability and execution excellence across Sales and Marketing teams
  • Developing the local business strategy and contributing to EMEA-level strategic planning
  • Defining strategic priorities and resource allocation at BU level, and aligning them with local and regional strategies
  • Managing cost-efficient performance of the Commercial Center of Excellence within the Business Units
  • Steering and overseeing the operational deployment of the Business Unit strategy
  • Ensuring alignment within the local Management Board and collaborating with key internal stakeholders (e.g., Health Economics/Market Access, Medical Affairs)
  • Representing the Management Board in interactions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Chairing Commercial Round Tables and serving as a member of the Management Board
  • Building effective teams and defining an overarching headcount and people strategy in partnership with Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, and Learning & Development
  • Establishing and maintaining a high-performing team of Business Unit Directors and People Leaders (overall team size: approx. 180 people)
  • Driving AI literacy and adoption across the organization, leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance business impact, optimize decision-making, and streamline processes
