Understanding of AEP's regulatory environment and jurisdictional requirements for transactions
Knowledge of transporters serving regulated operating companies' generating plants, including contractual agreements/tariffs, contract obligations, receipt points, delivery points, transport commodity rates, fuel retainage/surcharges, allocations, etc
Ability to use internal IT systems (ComTrac, FuelWorks, Position Manager, Consumables Management, etc.) and web-based nomination/scheduling systems
Responsibilities
Identify Fuel needs for AEP's regulated generating units and assist in developing procurement plans for a reliable, flexible, and competitively priced supply and transportation portfolio
Negotiate contracts with counterparties and actively manage Fuel portfolios to maintain reliable, diverse, and flexible supply at the lowest reasonable delivered cost, ensuring compliance with contractual terms
Perform timely and accurate Fuel supply nominations on various web-based nomination/scheduling systems per transporter procedures and deadlines
Enter and ensure integrity of data records in internal IT systems
Monitor and manage Fuel deliveries, inventory, imbalance/demurrage positions, railcar leases, and maintenance consistent with short- and long-term strategies for asset optimization and counterparty performance
Participate in the marketplace to stay abreast of market pricing trends, Fuel contracting methods, supply availability, transportation connections/alternatives, and operational constraints
Coordinate with Production Optimization, Day Ahead Operations, Generation Dispatch, and power plant employees to understand Fuel requirements and provide cost information
Provide updates to AEP personnel on Fuel supply and transportation operating conditions and maintenance, including impacts on receipt and delivery
Develop and maintain effective relationships with Fuel suppliers and transporters for low-cost, reliable, and flexible arrangements
Manage each plant's Fuel supply and transportation to achieve lowest reasonable cost for electricity generation
Schedule deliveries and minimize fuel-related operational and quality issues through coordination with internal and external stakeholders
Assist other functions within a team environment, including market evaluations, forecast planning, counterparty negotiations, contract development, and operational management for procurement and transportation of Fuel (coal, natural gas, fuel oil, reagents)
