Responsibilities

Observe hens for egg-laying behaviors, place hens in nests, remove after laying, mark eggs with hen number, place in plastic flats, calculate and record eggs laid per flock (50%)
Provide daily flock care: calculate and record feed amounts using calculator and hopper scale, distribute feed into hoppers and individual male containers using buckets and digital scales, weigh 40 females/120 males weekly for average flock weight, collect weekly lab samples (boot swabs, cleft pallet swabs), monitor flock for injury/illness and report, collect/record/dispose of mortality (30%)
Maintain flock environment: flush water lines weekly, maintain pen bedding and nests to animal welfare standards, use handheld electric blower to clear dust from equipment weekly (10%)
Other duties: operate high pressure/regular water hoses, maintain foot pans and hand sanitizer, maintain vehicle (check fluids, filters, tire pressure, clean/disinfect), maintain clean/organized work area (10%)
