Requirements

  • Must reside in the United States
  • Willing to undergo background check if required
  • Previous agricultural or production experience preferred
  • Willing to sign agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Willing to sign and abide by Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines
  • Comply with biosecurity protocols: showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering facility; no jewelry except medical ID; body piercings covered by clothing
  • Able to perform physical demands: use safe lifting techniques; regularly lift, stand, walk, etc. (with or without reasonable accommodation)

Responsibilities

  • Collect data in feed conversion houses using measuring instruments, electronic devices, pen/paper, computer, or tablet
  • Weigh chickens into and out of cages
  • Record and add feed to feeders as needed
  • Dispose of dead birds as instructed
  • Feed birds according to schedules
  • Clean and disinfect equipment
  • Perform house set-up and prepare houses for next flock placement
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties
  • Segregate birds according to line and sex as instructed
  • Remove and place birds in cages according to schedules
  • Examine birds for signs of illness and report problems to lead or manager
  • Monitor controls and thermostats for temperature and humidity
  • Perform simple math for recording information (bird weight, feed, added feed, mortality)
  • Repair, align, and construct cages, pens, or equipment (feeders, water lines, lights, vents, etc.)
  • Collect lab samples
  • Clean, disinfect, and haul coops
  • Maintain foot bath, hand sanitizer, hydro-foamer; sweep, mop, and perform general cleaning
  • Properly euthanize birds in accordance with company guidelines (10% of duties)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
