Requirements

  • Ability to perform clerical, receptionist, and billing functions timely and accurately
  • Strong communication skills, including courteous telephone etiquette (answer within 3 rings) and message relay
  • Proficiency in typing, filing, copying, sorting mail, and maintaining filing systems
  • Knowledge of medical records management, including reviewing, filing reports, and ensuring confidentiality
  • Billing expertise: produce claims, balance accounts receivable, prepare deposits, handle payments/denials, Excel usage
  • Organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage workload, and anticipate supplies
  • Customer service orientation: greet/screen visitors, assist patients/families/providers positively and sensitively
  • Ability to respond to codes/crises under direction, assist with patient arrival/departure
  • Punctuality, preparedness, and participation in meetings/committees (take minutes, contribute positively)
  • Understanding of HR policies, ability to facilitate communication, and adapt to system changes
  • Initiative in problem identification/resolution and supply management (fiscally prudent)

Responsibilities

  • Perform departmental clerical and receptionist functions (answer phones, greet visitors, type messages, make appointments, file/copy documents, sort mail)
  • Maintain filing system, ensure forms availability, and manage medical records (review, file reports, transcribe orders)
  • Handle billing: produce claims/bills, prepare deposits/worksheets, balance receivables, post denials/payments, mail statements
  • Maintain supplies: order food, sign out/distribute, enter charges, anticipate needs
  • Communicate messages timely, facilitate info exchange with patients/families/visitors/providers, report to manager
  • Prioritize tasks, organize workload, respond to requests from physicians/patients/etc
  • Assist with patients at arrival/departure, respond to codes/crises under clinical staff direction
  • Participate in committees/meetings: attend, contribute, take minutes, share results
  • Promote team environment, positive interactions, customer service role model
  • Attend department/Hospital meetings/activities, mandatory in-services, fire drills/evacuations
  • Identify/resolve problems cooperatively, refine communication systems (feedback, reports, memos)
