Requirements

  • Functions as the hemodialysis team leader in chronic hemodialysis care and treatment
  • Provides day-to-day direction and supervision to assigned direct patient care staff
  • Communicates with physicians and healthcare team to interpret, adjust, and complete patient care plans
  • Ensures safe, effective delivery of patient care in compliance with facility procedures, company standards, state, and federal regulations
  • Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy
  • Adheres to FMCNA Compliance Program, regulatory, and FMS policy requirements
  • Maintains knowledge of current dialysis principles and techniques through scheduled in-services
  • Promotes and assists with OSHA compliance for a safe working environment
  • Meets routinely with Clinical Manager to discuss personnel and patient care issues

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, support, and direction to direct patient care staff, including informal and formal feedback for performance evaluations
  • Participate in department staffing, hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions; recommend and initiate as appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with company, facility procedures, policies, and state/federal regulations, especially in clinics with over 100 patients
  • Approve or disapprove time or personnel schedule changes in Clinical Manager's absence, ensuring proper documentation
  • Participate in patient care plan meetings and supervise all patient information documentation
  • Train, orient, and routinely observe/guide direct patient care staff for technique and policy adherence
  • Conduct staff meetings at least monthly with Clinical Manager to inform staff of changes
  • Coordinate Charge Nurse duties with relief Staff RNs
  • Assess daily patient care needs, develop and distribute assignments, and assume primary responsibility in emergencies
  • Monitor and supervise patient care during dialysis, respond to treatments, communicate concerns to physicians, and implement care/treatment changes
  • Administer medications per physician orders and act as subject matter expert/resource for staff
  • Supervise and participate in short- and long-term care plans; admit new patients per facility procedure
  • Ensure patient and family education on End Stage Renal Disease, dialysis, diet, and medication
  • Supervise safe and effective use of all dialysis and emergency equipment; operate as needed
  • Perform required testing, verification, and checklist initialing for equipment start-up and shut-down per Technical Services Manual
