Proficiency in customs brokerage software such as Descartes, BorderConnect, or SAP GTS is required, alongside strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document verification, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

The Canadian Customs Entry Specialist will be responsible for preparing, submitting, and managing customs documentation, ensuring compliance with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) regulations, and coordinating with clients, carriers, and customs officers to facilitate seamless imports. They will also prepare and process customs entries for shipments entering Canada, classify goods using the Harmonized System (HS) tariff codes and apply correct duty rates, communicate with CBSA, freight forwarders, carriers, and clients to resolve any customs clearance issues, verify and review invoices, bills of lading, and supporting import documentation, track shipments and update clients on customs clearance status, stay up to date with Canadian customs regulations, duty/tax changes, and import/export laws, and maintain accurate records in customs brokerage software. Additionally, the specialist will assist with audits, duty recovery, and compliance reporting as needed.
