Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline
5 or more years of experience in functional work or IT support in a specific business or technical process area
Hands-on experience with the AS400/IBM iSeries platform, including familiarity with RPG, COBOL, SQL, and CL programming languages
Strong knowledge of database management on the AS400, including experience with DB2 for i
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve system issues effectively
Excellent communication skills, enabling interaction with stakeholders and team members
Familiarity with system performance tuning and optimization techniques
Solid understanding of system security and compliance within the AS400 environment
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in team settings
Focus on legacy application development tools such as COBOL, RPG and platforms such as IBM iSeries (AS400), while learning new skills including .Net, Python, Java, Oracle and SQL database technologies
Responsibilities
Act as a liaison between IT and departmental business/technical process customers, aligning business/technical system needs with current IT toolset capabilities
Think conceptually about information management and communicate ideas in non-technical form to stakeholders; think logically about system requirements and communicate to IT Development Staff
Review, analyze, and evaluate business and technical system requirements, making recommendations on how IT technologies can support business and technical strategies
Implement new strategies by configuring systems and creating programming specifications, executed by self or handed to IT Development Staff
Complete full life-cycle testing, including unit and integration testing, of all work processes, ensuring smooth cross-business and technical unit interaction
Provide system-wide support and maintenance for complex business and technical processes, ensuring data and tables are properly maintained and updated on schedule
Respond to problems by collaborating with stakeholders, gathering input, making joint decisions, and recommending best courses of action to address and correct errors
Write and maintain documentation supporting primary area of responsibility, for management presentations or stakeholder training
Expand use of current technologies and interrelated business/technical processes as applicable to the organization
Increase breadth and depth of knowledge through training classes, relevant courseware, and collaboration with experienced peers
