Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with a Master's degree preferred. A Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York or the ability to obtain one within 6 months is required. Applicants should have at least 3 years of experience in bridge engineering, specifically with NYSDOT projects, and proficiency in AASHTOware and/or MicroStation software. A strong understanding of NYSDOT standards, policies, and procedures is essential, along with experience in structural analysis, design, and modeling tools. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication and collaboration skills are also necessary.
The Bridge Engineer will develop detailed bridge designs, plans, and specifications in compliance with NYSDOT standards. They will utilize AASHTOware and/or MicroStation software to create and analyze bridge models and designs, perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure safety and stability, and review and interpret project plans and technical documents. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including project managers, civil engineers, and contractors, is required to deliver projects on schedule and within budget. Additionally, the engineer will conduct inspections and evaluations of existing bridge structures and prepare detailed assessment reports while ensuring all projects adhere to relevant regulations and industry standards.
