Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in sales and distribution of industrial gases and welding supplies or similar industrial products
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a managerial capacity
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be detail-oriented with good organizational skills
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds while promoting a team player attitude
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MSDS, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Must be flexible to adjust work schedules to meet operational requirements, may include “on call” weekend work and overtime on an as-needed basis
  • Strong retail sales/customer service skills desired
  • Knowledge of welding applications and equipment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for branch operations and profitability including sales, sales growth, budgeting, gross margins, operating expenses, safety, customer service, inventory, equipment, building and vehicles, community relations, accounts receivable and resolution of personnel issues
  • Sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases and equipment, welding products and equipment, tools and hardware and safety products
  • Assist the outside sales team including preparing quotes, maintaining required literature, providing customer follow-up, and gathering sales leads
  • Control costs and monitor fiscal performance compared to budget
  • Ensure the store is maintained in a clean and orderly manner and schedule staffing to ensure excellent customer service and 100% customer satisfaction
  • Manage all branch personnel by hiring, training, motivating, planning and directing work, providing performance feedback, developing associates and resolving associate issues
  • Responsible for timely and quality performance appraisals of assigned personnel
  • Accurately complete and submit all sales-related paperwork (e.g., shippers, invoices, cylinder audits, month-end reports, cash reconciliations, deposits, etc.) in a timely manner
  • Evaluate and monitor day-to-day activities of the branch to ensure cost-effective operations and make changes when required
  • Coordinate sales promotion activities and maintain and stock merchandise, displaying it attractively to customers; maintain a clean and attractive store
  • Coordinate activities with other branches and/or immediate branch personnel to resolve customer, sales or operational problems or inquiries to enhance customer satisfaction
  • Participate in the preparation of market and competitor information and annual sales analysis and forecast
  • Work in accordance with all policies and procedures and rules as prescribed by State, Federal, and the Company
  • Lead and promote safety; organize safety meetings and strictly enforce safety rules
