Candidates should possess a strong background in bioinformatics, ideally with an MSc or PhD in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Computational Biology, or a related field. Hands-on experience with NGS data formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF), variant calling, annotation, and reporting is essential, along with an understanding of bioinformatics workflows, tools, and familiarity with cloud infrastructure and data security (e.g., AWS, Azure). Fluency in English and either Spanish or Italian is required, with fluency in both being a strong advantage. Excellent communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills are necessary, as is a commercial mindset and a genuine interest in supporting customer success.
The Bioinformatics Sales Specialist will guide customers in evaluating and implementing Illumina’s informatics platforms, supporting data analysis workflows in both research and clinical settings. They will provide expert guidance on hardware, software, and integration for NGS and array-based applications, influence purchasing decisions through scientific insight and stakeholder engagement, and deliver product demos and pilot analyses. Responsibilities also include collaborating with Field Application Scientists for pre- and post-sales support, developing and delivering seminars and training on bioinformatics topics, coaching internal teams on workflows, and gathering customer feedback for product development and marketing.
