Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Biology, Health Administration, or Business, or equivalent professional experience. They should have 2–4 years of project or program management experience in healthcare or biotech, along with at least 5 years of direct experience in revenue cycle operations and denials management. Strong experience with denials and appeals management, implementing process improvements in a healthcare reimbursement setting, and leading large initiatives involving vendor transitions is required. Proficiency with Excel is essential, and familiarity with SQL, PowerBI, or Tableau is preferred. Certification or formal training in Program or Project Management (PMP, Agile, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

The Billing Strategy Lead, Denials & Appeals will lead strategic initiatives related to denials and appeals, with an emphasis on transitioning offshore billing operations in-house and standing up new billing workflows or teams. They will act as a subject matter expert in revenue cycle and healthcare reimbursement, particularly in backend functions such as appeals, denials, and claims workflows. The role involves driving collaboration across multiple teams, managing and auditing vendors, supporting vendor transition planning, and implementing new billing technologies or processes. They will translate data into operational insights through the use of dashboards, reporting, and Business Intelligence tools, and utilize project planning and tracking tools to ensure accountability and deliver status updates. Furthermore, the position requires organizing and leading cross-functional meetings, providing high-quality documentation and communications, and balancing hands-on management with strategic planning to meet evolving business demands.
