Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, social work, or related field required
One to two years’ experience in behavioral health or medical field preferred
2 years in case management or discharge planning required
Formal training in the management of the aggressive patient (NCI) required within sixty (60) days of date of hire; annual re-certification required
American Red Cross Professional Rescue required within thirty (30) days of date of hire; bi-annual re-certification required
Attend all mandatory in-services and other in-services relevant to the role

Responsibilities

Supports the clinical team in delivering cognitive and other therapeutic services to program patients according to clinical standards of care and under supervision
Works with treatment teams to design and implement Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) specific behavioral interventions, e.g., Exposure Therapy
Works with the clinical team to determine resources based on patient’s access and needs
Works with therapeutic and medical team to ensure patients have appropriate discharge resources internally or externally
Completes discharge documentation and Depart Plan in coordination with patient discharge
Arranges appointments with aftercare/outside care agencies in collaboration with therapist or medical team
Supports and leads patient education groups under direction or in collaboration with clinical team
Conducts expressive group activities (e.g., arts and crafts, music, games, psychodrama) in cooperation with experiential therapist
Supports arrival, dismissal, lunch, and other transitional patient activities (e.g., supervise children and adolescents during lunchtime)
Performs admissions tasks, including front desk coverage
Works with individual patients and implements treatment plans when providing coverage for Behavior Specialist and non-licensed duties of Therapist staff
Collects/performs medical testing, UDS, vitals, screening requirements, safety protocols, census management activities, etc., in coordination with medical and clinical team
Participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings as requested
Monitors dietary intake of patients as requested by clinical team
Provides structured, therapeutic milieu management to teach, reinforce, and enhance positive social, educational, and personal behaviors and coping skills
Supports/influences behavior management plans/programs for all patients and implements them
Completes educational assessments upon admission, informs schools of admission, and collaborates on progress toward school transition
Collects and documents patient progress in the treatment plan, including education goals and ongoing progress
Acts as an NCI trainer
Performs other duties as assigned within education, license, experience, and training
