Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in battery testing, with a focus on abuse testing, environmental testing, qualification testing, and BMS HIL testing
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team of engineers and technicians
  • Strong technical understanding of battery chemistry, electrochemistry, and performance characteristics, Battery Management System, Battery Charging
  • Deep experience with battery testing equipment and data acquisition systems
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as UL, IEC

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain a state-of-the-art battery cell, module, pack, system, power distribution testing laboratory, including equipment selection, procurement, and calibration
  • Establish and optimize testing infrastructure and procedure for abuse testing (e.g., crush, nail penetration, thermal runaway), environmental testing (e.g., temperature cycling, humidity), de-risk testing, qualification testing (e.g., UL, IEC), and HIL testing
  • Develop and maintain data acquisition and analysis systems to efficiently process and interpret test results
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards
  • Coordinate and execute the development, de-risk and qualification testing with design engineers
  • Coordinate and support the development of end-of-line test hardware, procedure with manufacturing
  • Lead the team and be responsible for energy storage and power systems test infrastructure set-up and test execution including development testing, validation testing and qualification testing
