AWS Architect - Banking Technology

Position Overview

Kunai is seeking a highly skilled and motivated AWS Architect to join our banking technology team. This role serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AWS cloud architecture, guiding teams in migrating applications and accounts to align with our next-generation AWS strategy and target architecture patterns. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on technical expertise in AWS, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and access management best practices, coupled with strong leadership and solution architecture experience. This position is crucial in designing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native solutions and ensuring smooth software delivery across engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 7+ years of overall DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering experience.
    • 3+ years in AWS cloud architecture roles.
    • Proven Solution Architecture experience in large-scale cloud transformation efforts.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Go, Python, Java, or Node.js.
    • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services, including but not limited to: IAM, Fargate, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation/Terraform, CloudWatch.
    • Demonstrated experience with DevSecOps tooling and practices, including CI/CD pipelines and shift-left security.
    • In-depth understanding of cloud security, including encryption, key management, access control, and compliance.
  • Leadership & Communication:
    • Ability to lead solution design discussions.
    • Ability to articulate architectural decisions.
    • Ability to influence teams across multiple domains.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certification(s) (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional).
  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., financial services or banking).
  • Familiarity with account governance, landing zone patterns, and control frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
