What You’ll Work On

The Automation Technical Specialist (ATS) will act as the subject matter expert, providing automation hardware solution implementation services for large core clinical laboratories. This role involves leading a local team of service specialists to:

  • Receive and accept product shipments on-site.
  • Transport automation solutions to the laboratory location.
  • Assemble and test the automation solution before handover for informatics implementation.

The ATS will also:

  • Develop and utilize consulting strategies and tools to enhance automation solution strategies and foster long-term customer partnerships.
  • Apply advanced technical automation, service, and analyzer knowledge to deliver efficient and customer-centric implementation services within clinical core lab environments.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the customer, local field service, and the ADD project manager during the implementation phase.
  • Provide supplemental automation product training to the local field service team during hardware implementation.
  • Manage multiple tasks and coordinate with various departments across all organizational levels, including sales representatives, lab managers, project managers, construction contractors, facilities directors, internal and external vendors, and senior management.
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of the quality system's effectiveness.
  • Adhere to and promote the Abbott Code of Business Conduct.
  • Offer subject matter expert support for post-implementation escalations to local field service teams.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for new automation hardware product launches and instrument additions, providing necessary training to local field service teams.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility, completing each year within the allocated expense plan and exceeding the annual work plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in technical systems or a related field.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of general automation systems, instruments, or product field service experience.
  • Proven track record of successful customer service performance.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of formal experience.
