Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, or general engineering
  • Hands-on knowledge of press systems, press automation, and factory automation
  • 3+ years in stamping, body shop, or general assembly operations
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across all organizational levels
  • Clear written and verbal communicator; able to simplify complex topics
  • Team-oriented with a growth mindset; thrives in fast-paced environments
  • High integrity; proactive and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Solid grasp of mechanical/electrical systems (mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics)
  • Knowledge of engineering mechanics and manufacturing methods
  • Experience designing, fabricating, and installing press/automation systems
  • Skilled in coordinating design and construction, preferably in automotive settings
  • Proven technical and professional expertise in relevant areas
  • Familiar with project management practices; able to manage budgets and schedules
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools, including MS Project
  • Skilled in CAD tools (AutoCAD, Unigraphics, SOLIDWORKS, Teamcenter, etc.)
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • 10-15 years’ experience in manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, or engineering
  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree (Mechanical, Electrical and/or Computer, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, or Computer Science)
  • Experience in related STEM field
  • Applicable Journeymen’s Card or related manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teams and suppliers to improve or develop press automation for blank handling, cleaning, lube, conveyance, transfer, AGVs, racking, inspection, cranes
  • Build business cases
  • Analyze mechanical designs
  • Define system/control requirements
  • Improve press metrics (e.g., strokes/hr, line transition times, etc.)
  • Manage spare parts
  • Lead preventive maintenance
  • Define requirements & test plans
  • Estimate costs & timelines
  • Design new or modify existing systems
  • Support install, debug, startup
  • Travel to shops/plants as needed
  • Track project timelines and report to management
  • Review drawings for specs, quality, and maintainability
  • Coordinate field changes and documentation
  • Attend contractor/plant meetings for alignment
  • Ensure contractor compliance with GM safety standards
  • Drive cost/process improvements
  • Stay updated on tech
  • Work across teams (IT, manufacturing)
