The Associate Director Government Affairs Middle East, with focus on Saudi Arabia, will drive the development and implementation of corporate policy through strategic partnerships with government and industry groups aligning with business objectives to advance Illumina’s mission in the region. They will serve as the organization’s contact for legislative and public policy matters and will establish key partnerships with government ministries, regulators such as Ministry of Health, MISA, Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA), and other relevant stakeholders in Saudi Arabia and the region. The successful candidate will develop and execute government affairs strategies to support Illumina’s business objectives in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, monitor and analyze regulatory and policy developments, and advocate for policies that foster innovation and market access.
This role involves preparing policy briefings and providing thought leadership and recommendations, ensuring appropriate company participation in government forums and industry group meetings, collaborating with internal teams to align government engagement efforts with business priorities, frequently interacting with senior management and/or executives, and supporting strategic partnerships with public and private sector stakeholders to advance national genomics initiatives and precision medicine programs. The Associate Director will also lead public affairs initiatives to enhance Illumina’s visibility and frequently interact with stakeholders to influence public policy and preserve relationships.
Supports genomics startups through funding and resources
Illumina focuses on fostering innovation in the genomics industry by supporting startups through its Illumina Accelerator program. This program helps entrepreneurs create, launch, and grow genomics-focused companies by providing funding and resources. The accelerator operates in two main locations: the San Francisco Bay Area and Cambridge, UK. Illumina Accelerator has successfully invested in 68 genomics startups, which have collectively raised over $1 billion in venture capital.
