The MSL will build relationships with thought leaders and healthcare professionals (HCPs) in rare metabolic genetics and related therapeutic areas. The position involves scientific exchange, serving as a scientific resource, and supporting medical affairs activities such as congress staffing and advisory boards.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience:
    • Advanced science or clinical degree (e.g., MD, DO, Pharm.D., PhD, NP, PA, GC).
    • 5+ years of field Medical Science Liaison experience preferred.
    • Rare disease experience and strong knowledge of genetics preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to understand and communicate scientific information effectively.
    • Strong oral, written, and communication skills.
    • Ability to travel frequently (up to 60% overnight travel) with a valid driver's license.
    • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn new applications.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Strong business acumen.
    • Launch experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, gain access to, and develop professional relationships with thought leaders, healthcare professionals (HCPs), study investigators, and professional organizations within the assigned geography.
  • Support research initiatives and provide support to clinical site investigators.
  • Act as a liaison for HCPs interested in conducting investigator-initiated research, facilitating proposal review.
  • Engage in scientific exchange in response to thought leader requests.
  • Effectively articulate scientific and clinical information related to the therapeutic area to HCPs and researchers.
  • Deliver impactful presentations to diverse audiences (advisory boards, patient advocacy groups, payors) using scientific resources.
  • Provide accurate and unbiased assessments of community needs to senior management.
  • Support company-sponsored research, investigator-initiated research, and publications within PhRMA guidelines.
  • Present clinical data at regional or national advisory boards.
  • Stay updated on emerging scientific literature and clinical data.
  • Support congress and conference strategy, providing scientific support and communicating insights.
  • Ensure full compliance with company SOPs, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws, including PhRMA guidelines.
  • Complete other assigned responsibilities in a timely manner.
