  • Experience in full-scope accounting, enterprise-wide financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, and tax

  • Officer-level leadership experience in finance, particularly in property and casualty insurance

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the controller function and serve as a trusted partner to the P&C Controller and advisor to the executive team
  • Deliver on key strategic initiatives, including participating in system implementations and enhancements
  • Lead implementation of new accounting guidance and/or accounting treatment of new transactions
  • Drive key initiatives around automation and other activities to improve team productivity
  • Actively participate in merger/acquisition activities
  • Contribute to organizational strategy and formulate/implement cost-effective strategies and operations
  • Foster commitment among team through transparent communication about business challenges, successes, and results
  • Create an environment encouraging autonomous thinking, behavior, action, and decision-making to attain goals
  • Take personal responsibility for tough decisions, meeting commitments, and ensuring results
  • Drive performance expectations and management across the P&C accounting team
  • Drive team culture with focus on outcomes and learning; coach and develop team members
  • Oversee financial reporting for the P&C business, including SEC disclosures and exhibits
  • Deliver US statutory reporting for Annual and Quarterly Statements
  • Participate in monthly internal management reporting with key insights into actual results
  • Maintain relations with external entities (state departments of insurance, external auditors) and respond to information requests
  • Ensure design, testing, and operating effectiveness of functions under the P&C Controller’s responsibility
