Ability to set up and operate hemodialysis machine
Knowledge of attaching dialyzer and tubing to machine and priming extracorporeal circuits with 0.9% normal saline
Skill in labeling dialyzer and blood lines with patient name and ID (excluding single use)
Capability to prepare dialysis solutions and mix bicarbonate according to formula
Ability to explain dialysis procedure and machine operation to patients
Proficiency in connecting hemodialysis machine to patient’s access site
Competence in monitoring hemodialysis machine for malfunctions
Ability to maintain logbooks, forms, and registers

Responsibilities

Set up and operate hemodialysis machine to provide dialysis treatment for patients with kidney failure
Attach dialyzer and tubing to machine and prime the extracorporeal circuits with 0.9% normal saline to prepare machine for use
Label dialyzer and blood lines with patient name and ID prior to the first use (excluded single use)
Prepare dialysis solutions and mix bicarbonate according to formula
Explain dialysis procedure and operation of hemodialysis machine to patient before treatment to allay anxieties
Connect hemodialysis machine to patient’s access site to initiate dialysis
Monitor hemodialysis machine for malfunction
Maintain all the logbooks, forms, and registers
