Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Three years of experience in a retail grocery environment with increasing levels of responsibility
  • One year of experience in a supervisory or lead role, preferably in a retail environment
  • Proficient in computer skills (email, spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents
  • Accounting/Bookkeeping skills
  • Ability to interpret/analyze financials
  • Ability to develop/manage budgets
  • Ability to delegate/direct/implement
  • Suggestive selling/knowledge of products
  • Detail oriented
  • Physical ability to lift and/or move 20 pounds; frequently sit/stand/walk

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Store Director while learning and becoming skilled in management of all areas of the store
  • Ensure all departments are fully staffed, trained, and operating efficiently
  • Maintain store profitability by monitoring all financial aspects of purchasing, stocking, selling, payroll, and other general expenses and income
  • Maintain physical location properly including equipment, sanitization, safety, and general appearance
  • Communicate and execute corporate plans
  • Conduct regular inspections of all areas, providing feedback to department managers
  • Review reports, take action, and communicate information as needed
  • Engage in financial planning including budgeting, staffing/payroll, facility maintenance, and upgrading
  • Communicate and work with SpartanNash personnel
  • Train others to perform all department activities and functions
  • Manage the selection, scheduling, and supervision of others
  • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and customer-friendly department
  • Have familiarity with all products carried in the department; know differences in price, taste, preparation, use, etc
  • Complete all other duties as assigned in a timely manner
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed
