Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives (e.g., merchandise schematics)
  • Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height
  • Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment
  • Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • May be required to provide detailed background information for specialized licenses (alcohol/tobacco)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
  • Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
  • Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas
  • Perform opening and closing procedures
  • Process corporate directives (e.g., Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey, store communications)
  • Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays
  • Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits/receipts), and loss prevention
  • Maintain store areas to company standards (well-stocked sales floor, organized stockroom)
  • Protect and secure company assets, including store cash
  • Adhere to policies/procedures (including safety); ensure associates follow them
  • Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
  • Ensure positive, safe, respectful environment with professional interactions
  • Maintain store cleanliness (clean/restock bathrooms, sweep/mop floors, take out trash, keep areas neat)
  • Other duties as assigned
