Requirements

  • Valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification (required and must be maintained in good standing)
  • May require yearly certification for a forklift license
  • In Florida, must obtain a qualifier certification through the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for retail propane oversight (BJ’s covers cost and training)

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction within the club and drive club performance, particularly for directly managed departments (preparing for Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience tracks)
  • Ensure consistent execution of policies and procedures, positive member service experience, and Grand Opening Look Daily (GOLD) standard club conditions
  • Lead audit compliance efforts and drive collaboration with Business Partners (BPs)
  • Oversee onboarding, certification, and training to ensure food safety and operational excellence
  • Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed, taking full responsibility for club operations, team leadership, and member engagement during assigned shifts
  • Develop talent and teams by fostering a culture of growth through collaboration, coaching, and empowerment; encourage continuous learning
  • Display leadership by promoting open communication, resolving conflicts constructively, and building inclusive team environments
  • Teach, coach, and lead team members through training, feedback, and on-the-job coaching to support development
  • Drive a values-based culture promoting strategic thinking, ethical decision-making, and inclusion
