Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience, preferably in the Turf Care maintenance equipment, for use in turf applications
  • Undergraduate degree – BA or BS, or equivalent in sales experience
  • High degree of mechanical skill
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Japanese
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to establish effective business relationships with internal and external partners
  • Ability to speak and write English (desirable)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day instructions or as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel 50%

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales targets for the area of Japan
  • Assist in preparing annual sales forecast and developing strategies to achieve sales targets
  • Assist Area Manager and cooperate with sales and marketing staff to execute special projects and programs within Japan
  • Provide sales support for the further development of Golf Market, Municipal/Government/Sports Fields, Rental, and other potential markets
  • Provide adequate distributor training to improve sales techniques, product knowledge, and impart complete information regarding company policies
  • Conduct regular training with end users, and where able, offer service and technical support
  • Develop and maintain strategic business relationships with National Accounts to promote brand awareness and positive business relationships
  • Assist in creating strategies for major accounts based on current and anticipated customer requirements
  • Create and maintain working relationships with key greenkeepers, contractors, specifiers, golf and landscape architects, and engineers who influence product selection
  • Work with distributor Sales and Service personnel to design training meetings for dealers, contractors, landscape architects, and end users
  • Monitor and evaluate Toro Market Share
  • Liaise with customers to discuss concerns, complaints, and instigate corrective actions where required
  • Maintain current knowledge on new products, competitor’s products, and other general market information of interest to customers
  • Track status of all projects (golf and non-golf)
  • Monitor distribution and dealer network, review and develop plans to support sales and grow market share
  • Report on product issues and recommend ways to improve
  • Complete monthly reports and weekly expenses according to requirements
  • Attend training meetings locally and internationally as required
  • Assist in controlling expenses for Toro Japan
  • Participate in industry associations to optimize social and business contacts
  • Ensure sales activities comply with legal and ethical standards
  • Identify new business opportunities in specified sales areas with focus on developing markets
  • Coordinate project support through distribution channels to maximize sales
  • Identify and develop the distribution channel to meet new market growth opportunities
  • Ensure key interface role in cohesiveness of support channel: Sales/Marketing/Engineering/Distributor/End-User
