Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical field, or business concentration (preferred)
  • Four years Outside Sales experience, preferably in a related industry with a proven track record of success (preferred)
  • Inside Sales and/or Field Service work experience (plus)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents and product specifications
  • Ability to identify critical decision makers within customer organizations
  • Ability to recognize customer's needs beyond the stated or obvious
  • Ability to work in a professional manner with individuals from varying backgrounds, experience and educational levels
  • Valid state driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, primarily local during business day, with occasional overnight stays and weekends
  • Flexibility to work Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., with possible evenings and weekends as needed

Responsibilities

  • Execute sales strategy and initiate contact with existing and potential customers in Central to Eastern South Carolina territory for mechanical equipment and services (pumps, filtration, heat exchangers, steam products)
  • Act as consultative business partner, problem solver, trusted advisor, and technical expert in product applications
  • Call on end-users such as engineers, technicians, and supervisory personnel to provide process solutions and application advice
  • Conduct daily in-person meetings across industries in assigned territory; act as both hunter and farmer
  • Establish effective relationships with customers to gain trust and confidence in product applications
  • Review specifications, application requirements, and documents; work with Inside Sales to prepare quotations
  • Provide technical support for customers on proper use, operation, and maintenance of equipment
  • Participate in local job-related professional organizations
  • Grow territory by increasing penetration of existing accounts and developing new accounts
  • Advise Inside Sales on margins for particular accounts or projects
  • Actively maintain CRM database
  • Maintain strong principal relationships
  • Attend factory training sessions for represented products
