Ability to co-teach ELA and Advisory courses for 9th, 10th, or 11th grade students in New York City (specific courses: Theory of Intelligence for 9th, Critical Media Analysis for 10th, Supplemental Essay Writing for 11th; Advisory for 9th/10th only)
Availability for in-person Saturday Academy sessions, orientations, and professional development at partner sites (e.g., Baruch College, LIU Brooklyn, SEO Office)
Commitment to specific dates depending on grade placement (e.g., orientations on Zoom, Saturday sessions from January to May 2026)
Proficiency in navigating instructional technologies (Brightspace, Nearpod, G-Suite, Zoom) in a blended learning environment

Responsibilities

Co-teach three to four periods including ELA and Advisory; lead class independently when covering for absent instructors
Follow provided lesson plans, meet lesson objectives, and abide by SEO’s criteria for rigorous instruction and student engagement
Read, internalize, and practice all lesson plans and materials prior to teaching; implement adjustments to pacing and activities based on student needs
Host open-door lunch tutoring sessions for Scholars to review skills, makeup work, or develop new skills
Project an energetic, engaging, and approachable persona to promote classroom culture, student connection to content, and investment in learning
