Requirements

Candidates should possess experience in journalism, newsgathering, writing for radio, editing bulletins, and news reading, along with the ability to meet hourly and half-hourly deadlines under pressure, and the ability to deal effectively with simultaneous tasks. A broad knowledge of local and regional issues, as well as newsmakers and organizations, is also required, alongside the capacity to work in a live broadcasting environment.

Responsibilities

As a Journalist for 4BC, you will be responsible for generating stories, gathering, editing, and presenting information in a balanced, accurate, and interesting way, preparing and editing live and pre-recorded news reports and bulletins, filing voice reports and audio grabs, writing scripts for bulletins, voice reports, stories, and headlines, generating ideas for stories, and following leads from news agencies, police, the public, media conferences, programs, social media, and other sources. You will also research, verify, and collate evidence and information to support a story using relevant sources such as newsmakers, organizations, the internet, archives, and databases.
