The Life & Trends reporter on the Audience Off Platform team is crucial for driving Newsweek's engagement and reach, particularly on platforms like Apple News. This role involves rapidly crafting engaging content on trending themes, utilizing AI/LLM tools to produce accurate and timely content, and contributing to data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in content creation within a newsroom, digital publication, or similar environment, with a history of engaging a large audience.
  • Deep understanding of lifestyle trending topics, including internet conversations, health, entertainment, science, and wellness.
  • Strong editorial judgment and an exceptional ability to identify trending content.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing trends and pivot strategies without compromising quality.
  • Prior experience with AI/LLM tools is highly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Produce multiple stories daily on high-interest topics related to life advice, personal dilemmas, health, wellness, and trending digital themes.
  • Data Awareness: Utilize analytics data to identify stories likely to resonate with audiences. Monitor content performance and optimize headlines, visuals, and other elements for improved audience response.
  • Content Refinement and Improvement: Incorporate editor feedback to enhance individual stories and the content crafting process. Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative content ideas to drive audience growth and engagement.
  • AI Assisted Workflow: Enhance proficiency in using LLMs to improve the speed, depth, and breadth of reporting, and identify opportunities to develop AI tools further.
  • Fulfill any other reasonable duties to meet the needs of the business.
