Requirements

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Familiarity with Company and Plant policies, procedures, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Understanding of OSHA guidelines, including Forklift certification/recertification, Lock-out/Tag-out, and Job Specific Training
  • Ability to plan labor, materials, WIP, and finished goods production needs
  • Proficiency in production auditing (pre-shift hand-off, LAPs, paperwork verification, post-shift hand-offs)
  • Skills in quality verification (water activity, bar color, code dating, cartoning quality, weight control)
  • Capability to perform set-up, changeovers, and maintain change parts using checklists and tools
  • Experience with ERP functions (inventory, lot tracking, work order balances)
  • Knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity, quality, safety, sanitation, and housekeeping

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned personnel, ensuring quality and safety of food products, personnel safety, housekeeping, adherence to production schedule, minimization of scrap, and optimization of line efficiencies
  • Maximize personnel use through ongoing training, coaching, and daily feedback
  • Maintain work area in a neat, safe, orderly fashion; comply with and audit policies/procedures including GMP
  • Ensure OSHA guidelines are followed, report unsafe conditions, and provide safety training to direct reports
  • Accurately plan shift needs for labor, materials, WIP, and finished goods
  • Complete scheduled production auditing
  • Verify quality standards through tests, recordings, visual inspections, and corrective actions
  • Control raw material conversion costs by reducing waste, improving weight control, eliminating hold product; control labor costs via efficiencies, yields, and minimal overtime
  • Perform set-up and changeovers; maintain change parts; clear previous run materials to prevent mixing
  • Attain production schedules for on-time customer satisfaction
  • Develop, maintain, and post visual KPIs; conduct daily tailgate meetings on performance and requirements
  • Assist with shift ERP functions for inventory, lot tracking, and work order accuracy
  • Support Corporate initiatives like Lean Manufacturing
  • Manage direct reports with timely feedback, maintain motivated well-trained staff, address performance/behaviors, ensure policy adherence, and drive positive employee culture
