Requirements

  • 4-year degree preferred (or High School Diploma/GED and equivalent experience)
  • 10 years operations experience, various job functions in distribution management
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience
  • Knowledge of D.O.T. regulations, Labor Relations, Selecting/interviewing/recruiting, Customer Service, budgeting and cost control
  • Knowledge of OSHA, HACCP and other regulations
  • PC skills

Responsibilities

  • Directs and oversees overall operations and site management of Distribution Centers (DCs)
  • Negotiates and administers collective bargaining agreements (union facilities only)
  • Implements and ensures procedures are followed for safe, efficient, service-oriented, and profitable operations
  • Provides site leadership as the most senior position in market DCs, with hard line reporting to RVP Operations and dotted line to Area President
  • Establishes long-term operations objectives aligned with business goals
  • Develops and executes strategic plan for the operations department
  • Integrates activities of shipping, receiving, transportation, purchasing, and sales by discussing accountabilities and interdependencies
  • Participates in establishing overall Distribution Center business goals
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls operations by integrating functions and processes with business goals
  • Maintains profitable operations by controlling inventory, losses, accidents, and safety
  • Seeks synergies and best practices to improve productivity or customer service
  • Guides operations management in compliance with government, regulatory agency guidelines, laws, and Company programs
  • Implements programs for safety, security, maintenance, and ergonomics
  • Delegates responsibility to managers for productivity goals
  • Enforces Distribution Center/company policies on safety and employee discipline
  • Communicates policy changes to the workforce and oversees work/performance of day warehouse associates
  • Creates performance improvement plans, administers discipline, and identifies training opportunities
  • Participates in Operations knowledge center, industry organizations, and networking to share best practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager
