The Head of Market Operations must have experience leading a remote operational team responsible for trading and market operations, ensuring efficient and compliant trade execution. A strong understanding of market integrity, strategic initiatives, member relationships, and business growth is essential. Experience with clearing, technology, regulation, and compliance is required, along with collaboration skills for business development, product development, positioning, and internal operations. Familiarity with trading systems like MEMO FIX, MEMO SBE, FIX drop-copy, and MEMOIR feeds is necessary.
The Head of Market Operations will oversee daily trading system performance and integrity, including monitoring order routing, execution matching, order book maintenance, and platform connectivity. They will coordinate with technology teams on system upgrades, performance tuning, incident resolution, and process automation. Responsibilities include developing and enhancing internal operational procedures, managing post-trade activities like clearing, settlement, and regulatory reporting, and overseeing interfaces with clearing and settlement entities. The role involves supporting the Finance Team with specific reports, maintaining knowledge of regulatory developments, defining and mitigating operational risks, and providing leadership during crisis response. Additionally, they will support member firms with market-related issues, oversee new member application processes, partner with Business Development on growth opportunities, collaborate on client relationship management and marketing, work with Product Development and Technology teams to enhance tools, and build, mentor, and motivate a remote operational team.
