Requirements

  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated record of establishing and nurturing strong and successful relations with both domestic and foreign government agencies and influencers
  • Successful leadership, program management, excellent presentation skills, and proven ability to manage through highly matrixed environment
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills including developing relationships at all levels in an organization as well as with critical external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to foster cross functional teams, make effective decisions independently and work collaboratively to achieve specific goals and outcomes
  • Knowledge of ICANN or other internet standards organizations, as well as various other governments and intergovernmental bodies governance and legislative processes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and retain flexibility while maintaining composure under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Work with leaders of government and industry to influence public policy, monitor government and regulatory initiatives that may present an opportunity or risk to the company, and advocate for specific plans to advance the company’s objectives
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key government, industry, community, and regulatory agency stakeholders; design and implement advocacy strategies
  • Work with senior leadership to create consistent and cohesive policy positions on a host of issues affecting the company’s business operations
  • Provide periodic briefings to Verisign’s Executive Leadership Team and other business leaders to help drive consensus on development of company strategy and business plans
  • Advise senior management on implications of internet policy and their impact on Verisign
  • Lead a team actively engaged in policy and government relations work and ensure their efforts and activities align with company strategies and objectives
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the government relations function
