Requirements

  • Experience leading a P&L for an IPP or similar energy division
  • Ability to manage a small team of 6-8 employees (with potential growth while maintaining efficiency)
  • Expertise in balancing internal and external resources, including building relationships with outsourced service providers
  • Deep understanding of clean energy project development (DevCo) business and its leaders' priorities
  • Skills in capital raising for project financing, in collaboration with CEO and team
  • Proven track record in overseeing high-quality, on-budget, on-time construction via EPC contractors
  • Capability to develop asset management strategies for operational projects
  • Experience selling operating assets at attractive valuations
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid environment from Lowell, MA; Boston, MA; Troy, NY; Oakland, CA; or Chicago, IL offices (in-office at least two of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday per week)

Responsibilities

  • Be accountable to the executive team and board for profitable and efficient functioning of NLE’s IPP, owning the P&L
  • Complete the remaining work to fully stand up the IPP division
  • Manage 6-8 IPP employees, keeping the team small and efficient
  • Find the appropriate balance of internal and external resources for IPP functions and build relationships with external providers
  • Collaborate with other NLE leaders and employees to ensure smooth cross-functional relationships, deeply understanding and supporting the DevCo
  • Defend the IPP against adverse selection or subsidizing the DevCo, ensuring fair payment and good pricing for projects
  • Collaborate with IPP employees and CEO to raise capital for project financing
  • Oversee high-quality, on-budget, on-time construction projects by hiring and managing EPC contractors and others
  • Develop the IPP’s asset management strategy for projects reaching commercial operation
  • Sell IPP assets to realize value without accumulating a large portfolio
