Requirements
- Ability to maintain quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory by adhering to and documenting inventory control procedures (e.g., product strategies, discrepancies, auditing, testing pill cell performance, process audits, corrective actions, managing pill cell database, troubleshooting, handling hazardous waste, processing recalls/expired pharmaceuticals/returns)
- Ability to enter prescription data into pharmacy software by reading prescriptions, translating information into system codes, transcribing data (e.g., date, drug name, strength, directions, refills, prescriber details, DEA number), and creating/modifying patient records
- Ability to assist in fulfillment of prescriptions under pharmacist supervision in Home Delivery/Specialty pharmacy by identifying/selecting products, verifying size/strength, counting/pouring/measuring/weighing medications, mixing/reconstituting, entering expiration/lot numbers, labeling, preparing packages, and distributing medications
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with Medicare/Medicaid policies, rules, and regulations for processing orders, staying updated, researching information, and documenting audits
- Ability to maintain pharmacy's professional reputation by complying with local/state/federal laws and corporate policies, assisting in prescription fulfillment, stocking/rotating merchandise/supplies, handling claims/returns, completing/securing paperwork, working toward national certifications, shadowing technicians, and maintaining a safe/clean environment
- Ability to monitor/resolve problems in prescription fulfillment using pharmacy procedures knowledge (e.g., root cause analysis for systems/insurance/stock issues, coordinating with insurers/IT, reprocessing claims, handling rejects/out-of-stock/partial fills/authorizations, escalating to pharmacist)
- Ability to complete work assignments/priorities using policies/data/resources, collaborating with others, identifying priorities/deadlines, communicating progress, recommending improvements, and adapting to change/feedback
- Commitment to comply with company policies, procedures, ethics, and integrity standards, using Open Door Policy
Responsibilities
- Maintain quality, accuracy, and integrity of inventory (pharmaceuticals/supplies) through adherence to control procedures, auditing, testing, audits, corrective actions, database management, troubleshooting, waste disposal, and recall/expired stock processing
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy software, including reading/translating prescriptions, transcribing details, and managing patient records
- Assist in prescription fulfillment under pharmacist supervision: select/verify products, count/measure/weigh/mix medications, label, package, and distribute
- Comply with Medicare/Medicaid policies by implementing/adhering to regulations, staying updated, researching, and documenting for orders/audits
- Uphold pharmacy reputation and deliver services per laws/policies: assist fulfillment, stock/rotate supplies, handle claims/returns/paperwork, pursue certifications, shadow technicians, maintain safe/clean environment
- Monitor/resolve fulfillment issues: analyze root causes (systems/insurance/stock), coordinate resolutions, reprocess claims, handle out-of-stock/partial fills/authorizations, escalate as needed
- Complete assignments/priorities: use resources, collaborate, set/communicate priorities, recommend improvements, adapt to change
- Comply with company policies/procedures/ethics using action plans and Open Door Policy in business processes
