Requirements
- Ability to enter prescription data into pharmacy software by reading prescriptions, translating information into system codes, and transcribing data (e.g., date, drug name, strength, directions, refills, prescriber details, DEA number)
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, corporate policies, and procedures for delivering pharmacy products and services
- Compliance with Medicare and Medicaid policies, including processing orders, staying updated on changes, researching information, and documenting audits
- Skills in identifying, selecting, verifying, counting, pouring, measuring, weighing, mixing, reconstituting, labeling, and packaging medications under pharmacist supervision
- Adherence to inventory control procedures, including auditing, testing, managing databases, troubleshooting, handling hazardous waste, recalls, and expired stock
- Ability to monitor and resolve prescription fulfillment issues, including root cause analysis, insurance claims coordination, reprocessing, and IT support coordination
- Capability to complete work assignments using policies, data, resources, collaboration, prioritization, communication, and adaptation to change
- Compliance with company policies, procedures, ethics, integrity standards, Open Door Policy, Respect the Individual principles
Responsibilities
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy software and create/modify patient records
- Assist pharmacist in prescription fulfillment, stock/rotate merchandise, handle claims/returns, maintain documentation, and ensure safe/clean work environment
- Implement and adhere to Medicare/Medicaid rules for order processing and compliance
- Fulfill prescriptions in Home Delivery/Specialty pharmacy by selecting products, verifying details, preparing medications, labeling, packaging, and distributing under supervision
- Maintain inventory quality/accuracy by following control procedures, conducting audits, managing pill cell performance, troubleshooting, and handling waste/recalls/returns
- Monitor/resolve fulfillment problems, including insurance rejections, reprocessing claims, patient alerts, and escalating to pharmacist/IT
- Complete assignments and priorities through collaboration, communication, identifying improvements, and adapting to change/feedback
- Comply with company policies, procedures, ethics, and standards in business processes
