Responsibilities
Appraises and underwrites applications for insurance to assess mortality and morbidity risk
Determines whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of an individual's medical history or physical condition, occupational hazards, financial background, insurable interest and other information
Consults with superiors or medical department concerning any questionable medical or personal situations
Has contact with the field force to gather information on which to base decisions
Provides leadership to managers and professional staff
Develops departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities
Manages multiple related teams, sets organizational priorities and allocates resources
Identifies and resolves complex technical, operational and organizational problems
