Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution
  • Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce
  • Experience as a driver (a plus)
  • Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods, and procedures
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills
  • Strong understanding of DOT requirements
  • Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data
  • Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office)

Responsibilities

  • Lead with a safety mindset to ensure injury-free operations for associates, customers, and the public; champion safety procedures, processes, and training
  • Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through one-on-one coaching, training on policies and procedures, problem resolution, and leading by example
  • Oversee and develop drivers and associates by discussing performance with Sr. Transportation Managers and creating plans to address gaps
  • Create an atmosphere encouraging upward communication and motivate associates to achieve department goals and objectives
  • Direct and supervise the work and productivity of drivers and clerical associates; drive associate engagement and retention while embodying US Foods values
  • Build high-performing teams by participating in interviewing and hiring Transportation personnel, reviewing performance, coaching on service and safety targets, and delivering disciplinary action
  • Monitor production goals, maintain zero-error attitude for accuracy and customer satisfaction; anticipate, analyze, and troubleshoot delivery problems with cost-effective, legal solutions
  • Ensure team understands and adheres to DOT regulations
  • Identify and stop waste, improve processes for safer and more efficient work
  • Conduct routine Safety and Driver Meetings; oversee maintenance of driver qualification files
  • Investigate all accidents, maintain an accident file, track causes, and take preventative action
  • Effectively schedule working shifts using planning tools (i.e., Microsoft Excel)
  • Other duties assigned by manager
