Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or above; prefer major in Supply Chain and Logistics related
  • Process Management: Working Knowledge (employs process flows, cycle time, process time and waste concepts; walks through steps, decisions, measurements, dependencies and hand-offs; creates process flow or work flow diagrams; documents types of process decisions and potential impact; identifies and monitors common process bottlenecks)
  • Problem Solving: Working Knowledge (identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives; examines a specific problem and understands stakeholder perspectives; develops alternative techniques for assessing information accuracy; analyzes risks and benefits of alternatives; uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools)
  • Transportation: Knowledge of and experience with the means of transporting materials and goods to and from suppliers, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities and customers
  • Ability to work onsite five days a week

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing transportation plans and identifying opportunities for improvements to meet client needs
  • Implementing and maintaining monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date
  • Generating and analyzing reports of transportation costs, carrier performance and lead times
  • Assisting in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity and providing solutions to reduce lead times
  • Collaborate with factory supply chain & Commercial and Distribution teams to gather production forecast, develop transportation capacity plan, share with transport service providers (first mile transport service provider, ocean carrier)
  • Secure required truck, ocean (FCL(95%)/LCL, RORO, BB), air and rail capacity transport to ship prime products
  • Perform ocean shipment pre-planning to share forecast with ocean carriers, secure ocean bookings and develop ocean solutions for new trade lanes
  • Execute ocean export transportation of all finished products from factory to dealer
  • Work with suppliers (truck, ocean, port, freight forwarding) to safely and compliantly transport prime products to dealers and interplant factories
  • Identify cost savings project ideas, execute projects to deliver cost savings to Caterpillar, dealers by eliminating waste from the prime product distribution network
  • Provide forecast, and operational requirements for procurement bids to contract service providers for prime product transportation
